Overview
Title: Family Medicine Resident Physician
Overview: Lauren has joined us from Seattle, Washington. Lauren has extensive volunteer experience in the U.S. as well as through UNICEF in Nepal developing maternal and child nutrition and a social protection program. Lauren enjoys rowing, both as a competitor and coach. She stays active through hiking, half marathons and triathlon
Professional Summary: My strong affinity for primary care was cultivated during my time spent in rural Lusikisiki South Africa researching pediatric HIV with Médecins sans Frontières. My time abroad has made me a stronger and more compassionate individual and helped shape many of the fundamental principles and beliefs that guide my ambitions. I believe that comprehensive primary medicine leads to better overall quality of care, in which a patient is not a medical problem, but a unique individual with a complex background and multifaceted social roles, struggling with life’s challenges in the context of a larger community.
Personal Summary: Rowing continues to be a true passion of mine, both as a competitor and a coach, and I utilize every possible opportunity to be out on the water. I also travel as much as possible, with a goal of eventually spending some time working abroad. I enjoy staying active through skiing and hiking, as well as the challenge of the occasional half marathon and triathlon. When possible I appreciate the opera and symphony, but am just as content knitting, practicing yoga, or curling up with a good book.
