Title: Family Medicine Resident Physician
Overview: Julie, her husband and son are from Aurora, Colorado. Julie has a passion for children, teaching elementary school students and continuing to develop health and living curriculum for public schools. She enjoys spending time with her family hiking, rock climbing and snow shoeing.
Professional Summary: The family practice model of care allows a physician to build a strong connection with people, putting patients at ease to discuss medical concerns with their doctor. Family medicine is comprehensive and offers a diverse knowledge-base to treat a full spectrum of diseases and requires a physician to master various procedural skills. I embrace the challenge of lifelong learning and I am excited to continually learn and grow throughout my career as a physician. I appreciate the focus on preventative medicine, keeping patients healthier. As a generalist, a family doctor is trained to treat the whole person — mind, body, and spirit. This is important because illness does not affect just the person’s body, but it also affects other aspects of their life as well.
Personal Summary: The primary reason why I chose Coeur d’Alene Family Medicine Residency is the instant connection that I felt with the physicians and staff that I interviewed with. The faculty was warm and welcoming and genuinely cared about me as a person. After starting with the residency program, however, I felt this amplified throughout the hospital and community. The faculty, community physicians and nurses are all willing to teach and share their knowledge. Being that this is a newer program, the residents have had ownership in shaping the program. Also, you can’t beat living in Coeur d’Alene! Outdoor activities of all kind are within a short distance, and the downtown area offers art and culture
