Melissa Roop, MD

I chose family medicine because it allows me to care for patients throughout every stage of life while building meaningful, long-term relationships with individuals and families. I especially enjoy caring for underserved communities and partnering with patients to make informed decisions that reflect their unique goals, values, and circumstances.

My approach combines evidence-based medicine with compassionate, whole-person care. I believe that health extends beyond the exam room and is shaped by our families, communities, and environment. My clinical interests include women’s health, pediatrics, preventive medicine, addiction medicine, and Climate and Health, where I enjoy educating healthcare professionals and advancing sustainable practices that improve the health of both people and the communities they call home.

As a faculty physician, I am passionate about mentoring the next generation of family physicians. I hope to inspire residents to provide thoughtful, comprehensive care, remain curious throughout their careers, and become advocates for the health of their patients and communities. Outside of work I enjoy gardening, running, rock climbing, knitting and cooking alongside my family and two dogs.
